How to Fix the "Item Name Material is Set up in QuickBooks as Category" Error
If you use ServiceBox for invoicing and you're encountering an error message that says "Item name material is set up in QuickBooks as category and cannot be used in a line item," don't worry. This error can be easily fixed by making a small adjustment in either QuickBooks or ServiceBox
Here's how to fix the error:
1. Go to the "Quote Items" section under Settings tab within ServiceBox Look for the line item that's causing the error. If it's called "Materials," that's likely the culprit.

Try to resync your ServiceBox account with the accounting software ( QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online. If the error message disappears, you're good to go!
2. If you're still encountering the error message, there's one more step you can try:
Log in to your QuickBooks account.
Go to the "Lists" menu and select "Chart of Accounts."
Find the category that's causing the error (it should be called "Materials").Please note Materials is just a reference example taken in this article, category name may vary from customer to customer in this case.
Change the name of the category to something slightly different than "Materials." For example, you could change it to "Building Materials" or "Raw Materials."
