Issue:
"Auto numbering and auto bullets are automatically applied when typing in the in description field."
Cause:
The Rich Text Editor automatically applies formatting (e.g., bullet points, numbering) when certain characters are entered at the beginning of the line in the description field. The rich text editor assumes that entering "1." at the beginning of a line indicates the start of an ordered list, while using "-" suggests a bullet list. As a result, the editor automatically applies formatting as soon as the user presses Enter after the first line.
Solution:
There are two ways to disable the auto numbering and auto bullets feature in the rich text editor.
- Typing Ctrl-Z immediately after pressing Enter: This keyboard shortcut will undo the applied formatting.
- Highlighting the area and clicking off the format button in the toolbar: By selecting the text and clicking the corresponding format button, users can remove the formatting.
Note that this solution applies to all rich text editors within the system, including those similar to Microsoft Word.
Conclusion:
The auto numbering and auto bullets feature in rich text editors can be turned off to provide more control over the formatting of descriptions. Users can either try the Ctrl-Z shortcut to undo formatting, or manually remove formatting by highlighting the text and clicking off the format button in the toolbar.
